An intricate, organic cuff from our Cell Cycle collection which was inspired by cellular forms. The C-shaped, flexible design fits close to the skin, is light-weight, and uses minimal material. The final product is built up layer by layer in durable nylon plastic using Selective Laser Sintering, a kind of 3D printing. Nylon is quite comfortable to wear because it is lightweight and flexible.

The design was formed in a simulation of spring meshes. We created interactive software to morph, twist, and subdivide each design, transforming a simple mesh to a complex patterned structure. In our work, we start with a natural inspiration and translate that into interactive software which we can use to generate an infinite variety of forms and patterns.

The nocturnal (or nocturlabe) is a very old instrument for telling time at night by measuring the stars. While concept is ancient, this design is all original. It is fully functional (all dials move properly) and meant to be worn as a pendant. This is now available for sale, as it has been tested and works nicely.

How to Use the Nocturnal:

The top of the nocturnal is where you see a bit of a ring around a spike. This ring can be strung with a chain and makes it possible to wear the nocturnal as a pendant. When reading the nocturnal, this end of the piece should always be up.

Your first step is to set the outermost dial on the date. The months are shown as letters, with January and December at the top, and the progression of the months running *counterclockwise*. Note that the exact position of the letter actually marks the middle of that month. Look closer at the piece and you will see the line that separates the months between the letters.

Now, hold your nocturnal up to the starry night sky, making sure that the date is still properly set. Locate the North Star centred in the hole in the middle of the Nocturnal. Then use the central dial (the one that looks like a pointer) to point to the two stars at the end of the bowl of the *big* dipper.

Once you have this all set. Look closer at the pointer and you will see that within the pointer is an eliptical ring and within this is a smaller pointer. This smaller pointer points to a roman numeral, which shows you the time.

Note again, that the roman numeral is centred on the middle of the hour. So, if the little pointer points in the centre of the numeral, it is in fact half past.

So now you can tell time at night without a powered time piece. This is great for night owls, vampires, and those who appreciate a gothic or steampunk look.

Tool, symbol or both?

The bits on this pendant are based on actual bit sizes - including an IKEA standard tool - so 'a bit cross' can be used for light jobs. Just remember the steel isn't tempered like 'real' tool bits and tolerances may vary.

I recommend using it with a red leather cord of about 78 cm/ 31 inch.

Inspired by the well known mobius strip (discovered by August Ferdinand Möbius in 1858), an interest in the unusual, and 3D modelling, I created the Twin Rail mobius pendant.

A half shell and 3 rails form a bearing-like structure to encapsulate a train of 6mm balls in a mind-warping cage with a twisting, fascinating movement bringing to life the only pendent of its kind in the world.

Includes a 4mm loop for attaching to a necklace or leather cord.

See the photographs with retro-fitted 31 6mm chrome steel ball bearings... in the bottom photo, the balls have been heated until they 'blue'... check out the video to see how they move by clicking on the little icon below the camera above.

Also available smaller and in silver, Twin Rail Mobius Pendant - small

Note: this item is the shell alone, you will need to aquire and fit the balls (31 x 6mm or 29 x 1/4 in) as well as a suitable necklace to hang it from, a 3mm leather cord works well.

Ever lose the little plate with nowhere to put your cup of espresso? It's confusing. Designed to eliminate the need for a plate or coaster, the plateless espresso cup can sit directly on the table without leaving a ring behind. Without the plate, you can move from room to room with your espresso and still have one free hand. You'll find yourself wondering why espresso cups ever got involved with the little plates in the first place. Can hold up to 90ml.

Replica of Wooden splinter Bird of Happiness

Bird of Happiness is the traditional North Russian wooden toy, carved in the shape of a bird. It was invented by Pomors, the inhabitants of the coasts of the White and Barents Seas. The Bird of Happiness is made without glue or other fasteners, by carving thin petals for the bird’s wings and tail and then using a special method of spreading and curving them, also found in other products of the North Russian handicraft. The amulet is usually made of pine, fir, spruce, or Siberian cedar. It is suspended inside a house, guarding the family hearth and well-being.

The iShark is an iPhone 'gramophone.' It magnifies the tiny speaker on your iphone when you pop it in the slot in the iShark's back (and also making your iPhone a dorsal fin). The sound emerges from the iShark's mouth. The blue color image is a suggested paint scheme, but you can paint it to match your favorite species. It has been modeled hollow to save cost to you.
