These remains tell no tale..
but ever wondered what happens,
when a snake eats its own tail ?
In this tale, the tail is fully gobbled up but still hanging freely.
A third order 3D Hilbert curve with 1.5 mm thickness & clearance. 2/8 blocks are rotated so that it forms a loop instead of an open curve.
See http://www.shapeways.com/model/108620/tiny_hilbert_cube_variation.html for a 1mm version and http://www.shapeways.com/model/109525/ for a 4th order 1mm version.
The shape of this cup is a main sphere with 6 portions of spheres - of the same radius as the main one - removed to form concave faces. The top is open and a handle has been added. The dimensions of this cup are approximativaly 6.5 x 6.5 x 6.5 cm and its capacity is 10 cl making it suitable for an Italian expresso.
I used the 2D wave equation to generate the top surface of this tile. Random oscillators drive waves across the surface, reflecting from the edges and interfering as they cross each other. Like the ripples in a pond that it's designed to mimic I think it's beautiful, I hope you do too.
