Accused of being fake, witchcraft and simply impossible..
This kinetic sculpture is inspired by the unlimited freedom of 3d printing,
it wobbles and turns with a slight movement of the hand.
Now give it a good spin or puff of air and it erupts in erratic and wild behavior.

This is the 5cm / 2" version, see the Gyro the Forms section for other shapes and sizes.
Corner stand available separately, or get the complete set below!

NEW!
Now also available as a pendant/keyfob!
In both Extra small and Small

Instructions
It is composed of four concentric cubes, each one spinning around a different axis.
The model needs some minor assembly:
Each inner cube has two knobs which need to be placed into the corresponding clamps in the parent cube. It's easiest to start with the inner most and continue outward.
And then... spin it away !

Notes
Do not be alarmed if your cube will not run smoothly at first!
Because of minor variations as a result of the printing process,
some need to wear in a little but will loosen up very quickly.
In the example video I am blowing on it to make it move, it's that smooth.

Be a little careful with (the assembly of) the Alumide version as this material is slightly less flexible/robust than the Strong & Flexible materials.

Get a complete set.
A default set consists of an Alumide Gyro the Cube and a White stand, you can change the materials in your cart later. 118x87_36851_89894_1338413385.jpg + 118x87_387662_147353_1338413388.jpg

The filigree design over the skull symbolizes ever growing renewal over the ghost of the past. This is the original design as featured on Kickstarter. It became their #1 most funded sculpture project of all time. Small is pictured sitting in the hand. See pic of all 3 sizes together for comparison.

The third public evolution of the Animaris Geneticus Parvus. #7 has evolved legs, with pointy feet instead of flat. Featuring a fully working Theo Jansen mechanism as used in his work "the Rhinoceros".
Also see our new Propeller Propulsion add-on, to have your Strandbeest walk autonomously!

The mechanism is printed assembled, and will work without further assembly right after birth from the printer.

A few tips to consider:

- After birth there might be a little powder left in some joints, or it might not go supersmooth. This will fix itself after the animal has a little bit of practice!

- Some surfaces work better than others. The legs require a little friction, and a flat surface. So for example: A rough table or floor, thin flat carpeting, or a thin rubber sheet. It will slip on a too smooth surface.

- The best way to push it is by its nameplate. Do not push down, but forward.

- The beest is light, but quite strong. It can actually be dropped without breaking. It is not a "toy" however, and not suitable for children. The 3D printer material is easy to stain so clean hands are advised.

An espresso cup specially designed with fins, to ensure the successful deployment of your rocket fuel. All systems are go! Paraboloid bowl holds approximately 1.5 fl oz. or 45 mL. (Note that I previously claimed the cup held 60 mL. While my 3D modelling software still reports that as the internal volume, some combination of the printing process and glazing is robbing me of internal volume. Contact me if you'd be interested in a larger, more expensive 60 mL cup.)

After receiving feedback from Shapeways, I've created a slightly revised model for the cup. I'm told that this model will be easier to print and glaze, leading to a more reliable product. The changes are minor -- it's a little wider, a little heavier, and has more rounding on edges that were previously sharp (a 3D rendering shows the differences above).

Update (April 13th, 2013): The cup has had a great run on Shapeways, and I deeply appreciate the attention and positive feedback it has received. The bad news is that I've got to stop offering it for sale here. The good news is that the cup is now available commercially! It's being manufactured by Fred and Friends, sold under the name "Blast Off! Espresso Cup Set". It's already available for purchase online (perpetualkid.com, thinkgeek.com), and I'm sure you'll be able to find it in your favourite housewares store soon.

Cheer up, Little Keanu Reeves, it's ok. Just finish your sandwich and march on. Life is like a box of chocolate. Which pill will you choose? There is no spoon. You can't handle the truth! Wait. What was I doing again?

"I feel like I could.... LIKE I COULD.... take over the world !!" This figurine is a fan art inspired by the great game "Day of the Tentacles" back in the nineties. The character shown is the evil purple tentacle who has drunk some toxic waste : as a result, two arms and a bad mood about humans... I really recommand you the game if you find it somewhere (it's a collector now). Please note that I don't do any markup on the price. I'd love your comment on your order too :)

Truncated Sphere D11 with 3-fold symmetry.

This die is inspired by the repulsion force polyhedra. Nonetheless, the underlying polyhedron (not rounded) is very different from the shape that can be obtained through this technique with 11 points repulsing each others.

Actually, I calculated the positions of 11 points to have a maximal radius for the circles resulting from the intersection of this underlying polyhedron with a sphere with the following constraints:
- 2 poles (upper and lower face - parallel to the horizontal plane)
- 3 points around each pole
- 3 remaining points corresponding to 3 faces perpendicular to the horizontal plane

The result is a truncated sphere with 11 circular faces of same radius.

It is numbered from 1 to 11: 2 numbers are on faces (poles), 6 between vertices and face and  3 on edges. The sum of the numbers on the 3 upper vertices surronding the North pole is 18.  Same thing for the sum of the 3 numbers on the lower vertices surronding the South pole and the sum of the 3 numbers on the edges of the equator.

This die is made of a shell of 1.5mm that contains support material to make it heavier. The engraved numbers have a 0.75 mm depth. They are quite big since they overlap the surrounding faces and thus should be very easy to read.

See this thread for more informations.

Available Truncated Sphere Dice: D4, D6, D8, D9, D10, D%, D11, D12, D14, D15, D16, D17, D18, D20, D24, D32, D33
Alternative shapes: alt D8, 3-fold D10 (rounded), 3-fold D10 (pointed), 4-fold D10, 5-folded D10 (pointed)
Coming soon: D22, D50
