This 2in wide cuff is truly a bold accessory! It features a flexible C-shaped design that fits closely against the wrist. It was grown from 4 separate root points which gradually intertwined into a single network.

Hyphae is a collection of 3D printed artifacts constructed of rhizome-like networks. Inspired by the vein structures that carry fluids through organisms from the leaves of plants to our own circulatory systems, we created a simulation which uses physical growth principles to build sculptural, organic structures. Starting from an initial seed and a surface, we grow a hierarchical network where nodes constantly branch and merge. The densely interconnected structure is at once airy and strong.

It also works with other Apple earphones, including ones with a built-in remote control - make sure the plug is the same shape and size as the 4th generation shuffle's.

A fine network of vessels defines the surface of this crescent-shaped pendant which was inspired by how veins form in leaves. The densely interconnected structure is at once airy and strong.
It is a part of Hyphae, a collection of 3D printed artifacts constructed of rhizome-like networks. An intricate, organic cuff from our Cell Cycle collection which was inspired by cellular forms. The C-shaped, flexible design fits close to the skin, is light-weight, and uses minimal material. The final product is built up layer by layer in durable nylon plastic using Selective Laser Sintering, a kind of 3D printing. Nylon is quite comfortable to wear because it is lightweight and flexible.
The design was formed in a simulation of spring meshes. We created interactive software to morph, twist, and subdivide each design, transforming a simple mesh to a complex patterned structure. In our work, we start with a natural inspiration and translate that into interactive software which we can use to generate an infinite variety of forms and patterns.

A delightful surface: the gyroid put through a simple inverse transformation. It's ellipsoidal on the outside, and there is a sphere taken out of the center, which is difficult to see; for otherwise it would be infinitely tiny inside, and therefore unprintable.

To use this oil lamp, you'll need:
A wick - I used cotton string about 1/8" thick.
A wick holder - I used a 6-32 stainless T-nut that I got at an Ace Hardware for $.74. Anything will work that is clean metal, about 1/8" diameter inside and 3/16" diameter outside, with a flange.
Fuel - I used olive oil, any vegetable oil will do.
I made an Instructable with more details.
