Smart ForTwo Cabrio Replacement Tailgate Latch
cdlane @Candyman37 during installation, you bend the part in the middle to make it temporarily "shorter" so the pins can go into the hole. My replacement part is wider than the original but the material is more flexible. You don't bend the pins themselves. The original part is only available from the dealer as a complete unit with the rest of the door opening mechanism -- you can see in previous posts what people were quoted to replace it. You can order my replacement part from this site.
cdlane @fbeda50, examining your photo, the part looks fine. My design is slightly larger (robust) than the original to allow the pivot pins to be shorter. The key to installing it is to bend it a bit, it's strong and flexible.
cdlane @cruxf22 This may be a bad print (it happens.) Contact Shapeways, with photos, and see what they say. If they can't help you, 'Contact' me directly above. (You're welcome to show me the photos first, if you'd like, via the 'Contact' like above.) We should be able to resolve this for you.
