This curious creature is from the classic game Chrono Trigger. The object is well balanced and will stay put wherever you place it, but be forewarned: the Nu is easily startled.

White detail is recommended for this object. It is very solid and paintable.

A fishbowl where the interior negative space is the shape of a human head. The space between the head and the outside surface is also hollowed, for cost considerations.

A trackball assembly, with 1" ball. Trackballs this size are industrial and cost like $300, so I thought I'd try making one with off the shelf parts, and this 3d printed assembly. It cost a lot less than I thought, and I hardly did any hollowing out.

***** Update: It looks very nice in black detail. Production quality, even. The spherical mesh in the middle broke a little, so I'll have to shore it up a bit in the revision. Currently awaiting the parts to assemble it.

Say hi to Teddy. He was sketched with a tool called, appropriately enough, Teddy (see http://www-ui.is.s.u-tokyo.ac.jp/~takeo/teddy/teddy.htm for starters). Teddy (the program) lets you turn freeform 2d sketches into volumetric 3d shapes instantly.

The results may be a bit primitive, but some would take that as a compliment. I know Teddy (the bear) would.

Button assembly for 688-SKPFAA.
I have no clue if this will work, which makes the 10-20 day wait that much more excruciating.

***** Update: Looks pretty good in black detail. Fits in the hole fine, but getting the pushbutton past the tabs will be difficult. I don't like the slope of the cone either, so I'll probably just completely redesign it.
