Both a tribute to ubiquitous, and lovely, hexagonal colour pencils, and a representation of what was coined by Joris Peels as 'combinatory manufacturing'.

Combine the connector piece with any set of 36 standard hexagonal pencils of about 7.0 mm cross section (measured at the smallest diameter). These types of sets are available around the world from many department stores and art supply stores - I’ve seen good sets for as little as 5 euro.

Examples of pencils that fit are Stabilo Aquacolor 1600, and Caran d’Ache Prismalo I, but there are many more. I’ve recently heard that in the US, Prismacolor Verithin Colored Pencils (available from Amazon and others) work well. Normal black pencils often have the same size and shape and can be used too.

If you are new to the Shapeways website: to order you will be asked to create an account (it's easy). Assembly may leave slight marks on pencils. For more information on this or other products, please visit www.michielcornelissen.com.

This is a model of the woodcut picture made by M.C. Escher in 1965 called 'Knots".
It has since then been a challenge for 3d modelers and mathematicians.
As far as I know it has not been modeled in 3d up till now. (It has! see comments).

The model's height is about 8 cm.

A delightful surface: the gyroid put through a simple inverse transformation. It's ellipsoidal on the outside, and there is a sphere taken out of the center, which is difficult to see; for otherwise it would be infinitely tiny inside, and therefore unprintable.

Eleganty swirling towards itself.

I recommend to use these with silver earring hooks and attach them with (7mm) split rings (not included) These are availble at your local bijoux or jewellery store or via websites. If you have trouble finding them, contact me with a copy of your invoice and I will make sure you get a pair!

A ribbon in space.
If you were wondering, it has two sides and therefore is not a Mobius strip.

Since this design looks best standing up, it has a mounting post that is 5/32" diameter. I would recommend a block of wood or blob of polymer clay as a base.

Double D6

This is a compound of a nearly regular D6 and of a sum-D6. As the sum-D6 that composes the shell gives results from 0 to 5, the core is numbered from 2 to 7.
As a consequence, when you roll this double die, you got the same results as summing the results of two regular D6. But in a very original way!
For instance, in the rendering, the upper face of the core show 3 pips and the upper part of the shell, around this face, shows 2 extra pips. Thus, the result is 3+1+1 that is 5.

SUCESSFULLY PRINTED in White Strong and Flexible.
Not printable in Metal, sorry (movable parts).
