The nocturnal (or nocturlabe) is a very old instrument for telling time at night by measuring the stars. While concept is ancient, this design is all original. It is fully functional (all dials move properly) and meant to be worn as a pendant. This is now available for sale, as it has been tested and works nicely.
How to Use the Nocturnal:
The top of the nocturnal is where you see a bit of a ring around a spike. This ring can be strung with a chain and makes it possible to wear the nocturnal as a pendant. When reading the nocturnal, this end of the piece should always be up.
Your first step is to set the outermost dial on the date. The months are shown as letters, with January and December at the top, and the progression of the months running *counterclockwise*. Note that the exact position of the letter actually marks the middle of that month. Look closer at the piece and you will see the line that separates the months between the letters.
Now, hold your nocturnal up to the starry night sky, making sure that the date is still properly set. Locate the North Star centred in the hole in the middle of the Nocturnal. Then use the central dial (the one that looks like a pointer) to point to the two stars at the end of the bowl of the *big* dipper.
Once you have this all set. Look closer at the pointer and you will see that within the pointer is an eliptical ring and within this is a smaller pointer. This smaller pointer points to a roman numeral, which shows you the time.
Note again, that the roman numeral is centred on the middle of the hour. So, if the little pointer points in the centre of the numeral, it is in fact half past.
So now you can tell time at night without a powered time piece. This is great for night owls, vampires, and those who appreciate a gothic or steampunk look.

An incredibly talented artist friend of mine (Chantell Hager; http://phantasyfaces.com/) drew some pictures of a dragon for me, so I might model this creature in 3D for fun and practice. Seeing as how it is a decently cool model, I thought I'd surprise her with a pendant of the model in return. This is a slight revision on my first Shapeways model. Some of the details that I had designed into the model were too small to show up in this size, so I revised the model to accentuate some of those features.

This is my version of the Weighted Companion Cube from Portal. I built the model from scratch, using photos of the cube from the game as reference, then texture mapped it to match the one from the game.
I've made it into a hollow box, which you can use to store small stuff, like keys, secret maps, wedding rings, plutonium, ect.
You should get it printed in Color Sandstone, as it comes completely colored, no painting required! If you really want to paint it, I would suggest you get a "White, Strong, Flexible" print of my other Companion Cube model, as it makes a tougher and more easily paint-able Cube. You will need some form of Glue to put this version of the Cube together as well.
It's hard to see, but I put a faint picture of the Cake inside the box.

You don't have to catch 'em all, only the one you really care about.
Inspired by a touching proposal shared on the internet, this openable pokeball is just large enough to hold a ring or two. There is also an embossed line of text reading "I Choose You" inside of the lower half of the Pokeball.
Due to this model's recent success, I have decided to open up the available materials to the remaining Strong and Flexible colors as well as the metals.
Congratulations to all of the happy couples!
The Pokeball Ring Box sizes in at 4cm in diameter and opens in two pieces. Currently, this pokeball does not come pre-colored and will need to be painted or colored in some manner. This was decided due to sandstone (the only medium able to be pre-colored) may scratch and scuff anything inside of the Pokeball.

A custom Fisher-Price clockwork record player record - plays "Still Alive" from Portal! The tune and model were all generated in Processing.
Some people have asked for some more details on the way I made the model:
I started with measuring out the discs that came with our player, they're injection moulded and all seem to have quite close tolerances which gave me a great interest in getting the right size for my model.
Once I worked out that it might be possible I moved on to setting up the notes so I could work out a tune. I spent quite a long time with a tone generator and a toothpick (driving my wife half crazy in the process) until I had worked out the frequencies of the notes that the music box part of the player could make. I made the tone generator in Processing using the Beads library.
I found that, although there are 22 separate notes on the music box there are only 16 unique notes, 6 are doubles. I've assumed that this is so that the notes can be played more quickly - due to the mechanism in the player 'tone arm' there's a risk of a missed note or jam if only one track is used and the pips (knobs? dots?) are too close together.
Once I had this information I made Processing sketches (Beads again) to make up new tunes and also check that I had the right notes by playing back one of the existing discs (good job I checked since I had two notes wrong...) with note positions copied from a photo of the disc.
Working out the new tune was complicated since there isn't a full chromatic scale available so some tunes simply can't be played even if you shift the key up and down, I wasn't able to get the rest of the 'Still Alive' tune, for example. The tune repeats twice around the disc and wraps so it keeps playing (for as long as the spring lasts)
Once the tune was done I had to transform from linear note positions which I'd used to work out the tune (the sketch looks like a music stave but with each line being a note on the available scale) into polar coordinates around the disc and verify the dimensions.
I created a blank disc by 'lathing' the vertex-by-vertex profile I measured using vernier calipers around an axis in Processing and exporting it for later use.
The "notes" are added onto the blank disc by compositing some boxes that I generate in Processing from the notes with the pre-rendered disc which is stored as an STL file - here I used the Unlekker library for both export and import/combine/re-export.
Once this is done it can be uploaded directly in Processing to Shapeways.
...and believe it or not that's the short form and entirely skips my (mis)adventures in Blender, Autodesk 123D, Solidworks...
At some point I'd hope to be able to make at least some of the code available but it's in a really bad state at the moment so I'd like to tidy it up before I release anything...

These are a bit DIY in the sense that Shapeways doesn't currently include earring hooks on this specific model. That is why they are much cheaper than the earrings that do include the hooks. I don't know when that will change, but for now you will have to put on your own hooks. Sorry about that.

Dice Template
These are the 5 platonic solids to be used as dice template.
You can download them freely and modify them.

In order to reduce the cost, they are hollow, with a tunnel joining the internal shell to the external shell. This tunnel is meant to prevent the automatic repair tool of Shapeways from removing the internal shell. But it is small enough to be invisible and to keep the support material inside.
The thickness of the models is 1.5 mm which is thick enough for Strong and Flexible materials, Details materials and Alumide.
