[Note: This propeller propulsion add-on does not include a 3D printed Strandbeest, which should be bought seperately! This propeller does not fit the Ondula version!]

Theo Jansen’s 3D printed Strandbeest continues to evolve with the addition of a Propeller Propulsion system! The 3D printed Strandbeests can now walk autonomously, powered by the wind, just like Theo's full-scale Strandbeests. The new propeller add-on gives new and existing owners of these kinetic sculptures a new way to set them in motion!

The propeller addition is available as a separate kit, which can be mounted on the 3D printed Strandbeests. The propeller is compatible with the various evolutions of the Strandbeest, so existing owners of the “AGP” 5 and 7 model Strandbeests can use it as well. Consisting of 5 main parts, it can be mounted on the Strandbeest body in a few simple steps.
Also see our videos of the Strandbeest Propulsion in action, and the video with mounting instructions.

The 3D printed Strandbeest is sold separately.

A few tips to consider:

- Please look at our instruction video on mounting the Propeller Propulsion add-on, here.

- After mounting the Propeller Propulsion add-on it is best left mounted. Frequent dis-assembly can wear down the material which can result in play on the mechanism.

A fine network of vessels defines the surface of this crescent-shaped pendant which was inspired by how veins form in leaves. The densely interconnected structure is at once airy and strong.

It is a part of Hyphae, a collection of 3D printed artifacts constructed of rhizome-like networks. Inspired by the vein structures that carry fluids through organisms from the leaves of plants to our own circulatory systems, we created a simulation which uses physical growth principles to build sculptural, organic structures. Starting from an initial seed and a surface, we grow a hierarchical network where nodes constantly branch and merge.

Watch the video below to see the the form was created.

I created the skeleton of a skeletal Lepidoptera. The Death's Head Hawkmoth (Acherontia atropos), seen on The Silence of the Lambs , has a skull marking on its back. I made a full human-like bone structure for the moth, with the grinning skull protruding from its back.

The model is very thin, yet sturdy and flexible. Detail level is fantastic, and the natural texture of the 3d printing process gives it a bone-like appearance that works wonders.

Yes, moths don't have endoskeletons, that's the whole point...

An incredibly talented artist friend of mine (Chantell Hager; http://phantasyfaces.com/) drew some pictures of a dragon for me, so I might model this creature in 3D for fun and practice. Seeing as how it is a decently cool model, I thought I'd surprise her with a pendant of the model in return. This is a slight revision on my first Shapeways model. Some of the details that I had designed into the model were too small to show up in this size, so I revised the model to accentuate some of those features.

A striking cellular cuff inspired by microscopic cellular structures and created using computer simulation and 3d-printing.

this bracelet is size LARGE
also available in size MEDIUM

The C-shaped design fits close to the skin, is light-weight and uses minimal material. It was built up layer by layer from stainless steel powder using 3D printing and fused in a kiln. The two layer form of the cuff would be impossible to create by traditional manufacturing methods. Its outer surfaces have a smooth, polished finish which contrasts with the unpolished interior to create an intricate, 3-dimensional cuff.

It is a part of our Cell Cycle collection which was inspired by the intricate mineral forms of Radiolarians. The form is the result of a physics simulation of the forces in a cellular network of springs. Using our custom software, we created the Spiral Cuff by morphing, twisting, and subdividing; transforming a simple mesh to a complex patterned structure.

this design optimized for printing in stainless steel but is also great in the "Strong & Flexible" family of materials

4c9o virus [force nano virus]

Inspired by the intricate and beautiful shapes of viruses and bacteria.
Watch HD video above or check out some highres photo's.

Materials
Succesfully printed in White Strong & Flexible.
Dyed strong & flexible could is experimental and available per request.
A polished version is unlikely to survive the process.

History
The original model was created in 2006 for a 3d photo collage.
One of the goals was to create a life-like photograph of non-existent objects.
As, at the time, I was pretty sure this was an impossible to produce object.

Then I discovered shapeways ;-)
So now it was succesfully created in real 3d!

Specifications
It is solid to not compromise the design and the price difference was marginal.
Outer diameter is 8.5cm/3.3 Inch and the tips are 0.7 mm quickly becoming wider.
Which overall makes it quite sturdy.

Please be careful with unpacking though, it may be slightly tangled in the bubble wrap.
Then again, mine already survived a 1 meter/3 foot drop, however, I do not recommend that ;-)
It should be treated as a delicate decorative object, it is NOT a toy!

Inspired by Maori and Pacific Island bone carvings this is the first in a series of Torus based necklaces that feature a tesselating pattern that wraps the geometric form in three dimensions. At first glance the shapes may appear to be simply cut into the skin of the object but when held in your hand and rotated the repeating pattern begins to reveal itself.

The image shows the pendant printed in Stainless Steel but it is available in a variety of material choices including plastic, sterling silver and gold.
The pendant does not ship with a necklace but when combined with a simple leather cord as shown in the images it makes a very unique conversation starting peice of jewelry.

It''s a Yin & Yang symbol represented by two koi fishes, but since I''d like to give an option for the material also made it in one part, i didn''t set it as black and white (Yin Yang colors).
The decoration of the design was meant to be a candle holder.

Resembling a bat or dragon, these biotech earrings are the wings of an alien exoform.

The 18g one piece Wing Earrings are currently not printable due to the extremely thin ear hooks, but here is another way to wear them (also great for those with smaller than 18 gauge piercings in the first place). You will need to find a pair of standard fishhook style earring hooks, and jump rings to attach them (not included at this time unfortunately).
