Accused of being fake, witchcraft and simply impossible..
This kinetic sculpture is inspired by the unlimited freedom of 3d printing,
it wobbles and turns with a slight movement of the hand.
Now give it a good spin or puff of air and it erupts in erratic and wild behavior.

This is the 5cm / 2" version, see the Gyro the Forms section for other shapes and sizes.
Corner stand available separately, or get the complete set below!

NEW!
Now also available as a pendant/keyfob!
In both Extra small and Small

Instructions
It is composed of four concentric cubes, each one spinning around a different axis.
The model needs some minor assembly:
Each inner cube has two knobs which need to be placed into the corresponding clamps in the parent cube. It's easiest to start with the inner most and continue outward.
And then... spin it away !

Notes
Do not be alarmed if your cube will not run smoothly at first!
Because of minor variations as a result of the printing process,
some need to wear in a little but will loosen up very quickly.
In the example video I am blowing on it to make it move, it's that smooth.

Be a little careful with (the assembly of) the Alumide version as this material is slightly less flexible/robust than the Strong & Flexible materials.

Get a complete set.
A default set consists of an Alumide Gyro the Cube and a White stand, you can change the materials in your cart later. 118x87_36851_89894_1338413385.jpg + 118x87_387662_147353_1338413388.jpg

The filigree design over the skull symbolizes ever growing renewal over the ghost of the past. This is the original design as featured on Kickstarter. It became their #1 most funded sculpture project of all time. Small is pictured sitting in the hand. See pic of all 3 sizes together for comparison.

This eggcup is printed on demand in laser sintered polyamide. The eggcup can hold a medium egg and due to the flexible nature of the printing material, it will adapt its shape to larger eggs as well.

Don’t let unruly wires get between you and your music. Pod à porter is the easiest way to wear your music, and it’s now available for the iPod shuffle 4th generation.

Manufactured from tough but flexible, 3D-printed polyamide, Pod à porter is ultralight and has a finely textured surface finish; each ordered product is manufactured just for you. It fits the iPod shuffle 4th generation and its earbuds, leaving all controls accessible. It also works with other Apple earphones, including ones with a built-in remote control - make sure the plug is the same shape and size as the 4th generation shuffle's.

If you're new to the Shapeways site: to order, you'll be asked to create an account; you can sign in with twitter or facebook. Available in black, and limited edition colors shown below; check the support/materials section of this website for more information. Pod à porter is great for walking, strolling, commuting and many other activities, but it has not been specifically designed or tested for use during work-outs or sports, so it may not be suitable for your particular type of exercise. Product is shipped in basic Shapeways packaging.

Assembly is easy: just run the headphone wire through the product, and attach the Ipod shuffle. Have a look here for some images. If you have any feedback or questions on this item, please feel free to contact me directly through michiel-at-michielcornelissen-dot-com.

Tool, symbol or both?

The bits on this pendant are based on actual bit sizes - including an IKEA standard tool - so 'a bit cross' can be used for light jobs. Just remember the steel isn't tempered like 'real' tool bits and tolerances may vary.

I recommend using it with a red leather cord of about 78 cm/ 31 inch.

A striking cellular cuff inspired by microscopic cellular structures and created using computer simulation and 3d-printing.

this bracelet is size LARGE
also available in size MEDIUM

The C-shaped design fits close to the skin, is light-weight and uses minimal material. It was built up layer by layer from stainless steel powder using 3D printing and fused in a kiln. The two layer form of the cuff would be impossible to create by traditional manufacturing methods. Its outer surfaces have a smooth, polished finish which contrasts with the unpolished interior to create an intricate, 3-dimensional cuff.

It is a part of our Cell Cycle collection which was inspired by the intricate mineral forms of Radiolarians. The form is the result of a physics simulation of the forces in a cellular network of springs. Using our custom software, we created the Spiral Cuff by morphing, twisting, and subdividing; transforming a simple mesh to a complex patterned structure.

this design optimized for printing in stainless steel but is also great in the "Strong & Flexible" family of materials

Heart Dipping Dish
This is a dish for dipping bread in olive oil. Fill the dish with enough olive oil to cover the heart, and then add balsamic vinegar to the heart. The vinegar will sink to the bottom and fill out the heart! You might need to push the vinegar around with a toothpick to fill out the heart really cleanly, but it is easy to do, and continues to look nice even after you start dipping bread.

The Fire Gauntlet is an articulated hard-shelled glove, 3D printed all at once, fully assembled. The model is based on a 3D scan of my hand, with a 1.5mm clearance between the scanned surface and the printed model to allow for a Nomex cloth lining. Ideally the final design would be in stainless steel, but there are many challenges to making that happen. This prototype is a good start.

This version is only for display and is bonded to the production frame. It was printed using White Strong & Flexible material, painted and mounted on a wooden base.

Brush'eM! is a molar teeth-shaped ceramic toothbrush-holder with a little twist.
It is so to speak a subtle everyday reminder to brush ones teeth. The 4 holes which form the containers for the toothbrushes are shaped as holes in the tooth, referring to the unfortunate consequence of neglected dental care.... the centre hole can be used as toothpaste storage or for additional brushes. In it's own little way Brush'eM! might support dental-care-education and awareness. For the youngsters Novastar has provided a smaller plastic version: Brush'eM! - KIDS, which is of a slightly less moralistic design....

Available in the Brush'eM! Series:

Brush'eM! - the regular version of the tooth-cup.
Brush'eM! Twist - the tooth-cup with a little twist...
Brush'eM! Kids - smaller and more affordable plastic version.
Brush'eM! Kids Fun - smaller and more affordable plastic version with funny holes.
