Sapienoid

This is an altered version of the gearbox model available from the ShapwaysMechanical page.
The parts have been perforated in some spots to be slightly more streamlined and also a little cheaper to produce too.

No assembly required, though the middle set of gears must be snapped down into position in order to engage the surrounding gears. I assume this was built into the design to keep larger gaps during the printing process.

A Konoid is an artistic representation of a mathematical object called Sphericon.

It’s hard to believe that being placed on a slanted flat surface it rolls freely in a straight line.
Well it wobbles a little, but it will not stop.
It's available in three different sizes and many materials

From Wolfram MathWorld:
A sphericon is the solid formed from a bicone with opening angle of 90 degrees (and therefore with a=r=h) obtained by slicing the solid with a plane containing the rotational axes resulting in a square cross section, then rotating the two pieces by 90 degrees and reconnecting them.

A sphericon has a single continuous face and rolls by wobbling along that face, resulting in straight-line motion. In addition, one sphericon can roll around another.

Weighing 85 tons the PRC-7R was developed by ComStar in early 3061 in a continuing effort to replace losses suffered on Tukayyid against the Clans and the additional losses of 3058 after the Word of Blake seized control of Terra.

Originally intended to mount a pair of Ultra AC5s when the NAIS unveiled the Rotary Autocannon, Precentor Martial Steiner-Davion arranged a significant number of the weapon system to be turned over to ComStar and the design was refitted with this new weapon. After a minor redesign to accommodate this new weapon the first PRC-7R walked off the production line in 3064.

In addition to the twin RAC5s the Precentor mounts a pair of ER Medium Lasers in each arm and a MRM 10 in the chest.

The Precentor is a brutal mid range combatant and can reach speeds of 64.8 kph while still mounting an impressive 14 tons of armour in addition to jump jets giving it speed, manoeuvrability and survivability, a combination almost unheard of in an assault ‘Mech.

The model contains 20 parts and stands approximatly 50mm tall when built. Includes parts to create both the production PRC-7R version and the PRC-7X prototype variant.

Original design by Dorian Sherratt & Helen Troy.
