Accused of being fake, witchcraft and simply impossible..
This kinetic sculpture is inspired by the unlimited freedom of 3d printing,
it wobbles and turns with a slight movement of the hand.
Now give it a good spin or puff of air and it erupts in erratic and wild behavior.

This is the 5cm / 2" version, see the Gyro the Forms section for other shapes and sizes.
Corner stand available separately, or get the complete set below!

NEW!
Now also available as a pendant/keyfob!
In both Extra small and Small

Instructions
It is composed of four concentric cubes, each one spinning around a different axis.
The model needs some minor assembly:
Each inner cube has two knobs which need to be placed into the corresponding clamps in the parent cube. It's easiest to start with the inner most and continue outward.
And then... spin it away !

Notes
Do not be alarmed if your cube will not run smoothly at first!
Because of minor variations as a result of the printing process,
some need to wear in a little but will loosen up very quickly.
In the example video I am blowing on it to make it move, it's that smooth.

Be a little careful with (the assembly of) the Alumide version as this material is slightly less flexible/robust than the Strong & Flexible materials.

Get a complete set.
A default set consists of an Alumide Gyro the Cube and a White stand, you can change the materials in your cart later. 118x87_36851_89894_1338413385.jpg + 118x87_387662_147353_1338413388.jpg

If M.C. Escher had owned fidget toys, he would have worn "One ring to rule the ball" as a pendant. A single, continuous line contains a small ball that makes orbit after mesmerizing orbit but cannot escape, always held down in four directions. Available in solid, durable stainless steel with optional antique bronze and gold plated finishes to fit any context, "One ring to rule the ball" now also includes a free rubber necklace so that you can confuse your mind any time the fancy strikes you! One customer echoes many others in saying, "I couldn't put it down. This thing is just too fun!"

Purchases by those gracious customers have now paid for the design time on this piece so it is available on a pay-what-you-want basis. Ordering from this page contributes 5$ towards continuing work such as the new, even more impossible "One ring to pwn the ball" (just released October 18th!) which can be found at http://www.shapeways.com/model/145172/one_ring_to_pwn_the_ball.html and the open-source "Ultimate Desk Toy" at http://www.shapeways.com/model/109166/ultimate_desk_toy.html . There are six regular convex polytopes in 4D, which are analogous to the five Platonic solids in 3D. This is the fifth, the hyperdodecahedron, a remarkably beautiful object brought to my attention by George Hart.

Here it's shown in a Schlegel diagram so you can see all 120 dodecahedral cells, though most are transformed by perspective: in this projection, the only regular dodecahedra are the biggest one on the outside and the tiniest one at the center.

A bigger model is here.

A 3-dimensional version of the Hilbert space filling curve. As shown in the photos, if printed in one of the "Strong & Flexible" plastics, it can be used as a bracelet or hair accessory. It takes a little time to reform back as a cube after being stretched, but it seems that leaving it overnight does the job.

This pendant features a mobius style spiral that can enclose a 6mm ball which jingles and jangles when worn.

If you'd prefer a right hand spiral, please see; http://www.shapeways.com/model/169011

NOTE:
Shapeways have decided that this model is unprintable with the ball enclosed.
This model will take a 6mm steel ball which can be fitted by gently forcing open the spiral... see video.
A 5mm ball is available here; http://www.shapeways.com/model/172759 or simply use a suitable (4.5mm-6mm) ball bearing.

The Lotus top is a graceful form that embraces the upper body, accentuating the shoulders and clavicles. It's name comes from its unique design that blooms at the center opening, allowing the wearer to put her head through and rest it comfortably on the neck and shoulders.

A perfect fit requires a 3D body scan. Email Contact (at) ThreeFormFashion.com for more information on full service scanning and fitting.

Our entry into the Siri design competition, an accessory which slides onto the iPhone and serves as the 'face' of Siri. The androgynous face has a wry, elusive smile suggesting the machine knows something that the user does not. Behind Siri's all-knowing gaze, the glow of the iphone screen is visible through the sculpture, and the main buttons are still accessible even when the screen is obscured. The design, when placed over the iphone, forces the user to interact with Siri instead of tapping on the screen to engage commands. For more complicated tasks requiring the screen however, the phone can easily be slipped out of the top of the case.

This is a little delicate as the lines are 1.5mm thick, but it seems sturdy enough.

Though these earrings may resemble an xenomorphic sea creature, we can neither confirm nor deny that they were modeled after any organism living, dead, or bearing any blood relation to our board of directors.

These earrings are sized for 18 gauge piercings and should fit most people with pierced ears. If you need a different size, just ask! I have a few larger gauges already available in the shop, and can resize it to a custom gauge if it's not already there.

Disclaimer on the images: any photos labeled "polished" are stainless steel that has been hand polished with a dremel. The stainless that you order will have more of a texture to it. I haven't yet made these for myself in bronze glossy, gold plated glossy, or either types of silver, but if you want the highly polished look your best bet is going to be silver glossy.

From above, a classic Egyptian scarab; from below, a real scarab.

The scarab is in a typical defensive posture, legs folded. As a result, it presents a strikingly different aspect when turned over.

This model is scaled to fit well in the hand, and because of the folded posture, is robust enough to travel well in a pocket. Mine goes with me everywhere. Warning: the claws are as sharp as they look.

Even fidget toys get to have a "2.0" . An updated version of the popular "One ring to rule the ball" design with fewer twists, thicker wire, and a bigger ball, "One ring to pwn the ball" takes its steampunk ancestry in a smooth, contemporary direction that's twice as ruthless with your mind--it seems doubly impossible that this ball could be solidly contained by just one short, twisting wire. With no hole in the middle for a rubber or leather strap, you'll have to go to http://www.shapeways.com/model/145208/one_ring_to_pwn_the_ball_pendant.html to wear it around your neck. But in both cases you'll get solid stainless steel with optional bronze antiquing or gold plating, and a look that ties brains in knots.

For the classic "One ring to rule the ball" design, now available on a pay-what-you-want basis, go to http://www.shapeways.com/model/52936/one_ring_to_rule_the_ball.html . To learn more about this design or other work from Terra Cotta, visit our website at http://www.terracottapf.com

Build from a twelve-sided dodecahedron with TopMod, the pentagons are linked to triangles and back again forming continuous paths. The surfaces are shadowing each other resulting in very nice shadows.

To build a suspended lamp light bulb and socket has to be inserted trough a hole. Adapter ring for E27 bulb socket serves as fitting.

To build a table lamp take use of Starfish lamp stand with adapter ring.

This video shows how to assembly the light source.

An iPhone 4 and 4S case inspired by the new film "Prometheus" and the art of H.R Giger. The film's premise questions the origin of mankind, of whether intelligent alien life had a role in the evolution of our species. This case evokes an alien artifact, and with the iPhone embedded snugly in this shell the narrative created is one where the iPhone appears to be a piece of alien technology discovered amid ancient ruins.

Remnants of a foreign creature perhaps?
This shell only allows a glowing glimpse of what it holds inside.

A large and marveling light cover with a space in the middle with room for Luxeon LED's or other power-saving lights.
It hides the source from direct view resulting in a gentle glow emerging.
