Another projection of the 4-dimensional hypercube, this one close to vertex-centered. I love the shape of its hull: almost a rhombic dodecahedron, but skewed just enough to keep the central vertices from meeting.
The more usual projection is here, other polytopes are here.

There are six regular convex polytopes in 4D, which are analogous to the five Platonic solids in 3D. This is the fifth, the hyperdodecahedron, a remarkably beautiful object brought to my attention by George Hart.

Here it's shown in a Schlegel diagram so you can see all 120 dodecahedral cells, though most are transformed by perspective: in this projection, the only regular dodecahedra are the biggest one on the outside and the tiniest one at the center.

A bigger model is here.

Check out gibell's Reuleaux solids at http://www.shapeways.com/model/115463/reuleaux_solids_3cm.html Those are surfaces of rotation based on Reuleaux polygons, which are curves of constant width. These are also surfaces of constant width, but *not* surfaces of rotation. So despite looking decidedly non-spherical, they roll smoothly as spheres.

There are two different Meissner solids, subtly different.  Look closely at the edges.  Some are rounded and some are sharp.  One of them has the round edges making a a triangle and the sharp edges meeting at a point; the other has them the other way around.

These are sized for compatibility with gibell's solids, so if you get all five they will all roll smoothly under the same flat surface together.  And like gibell's, they are hollow with internal braces to lend extra support, with holes in the bottom to let the support material out.

Printed great.  Video below! (the two foreground shapes are mine; the red one in the background is one of gibell's from the set linked above)

Other Sizes available: scroll down to see. When I model in 3D it often feels like I'm sculpting. I build each piece, put it into place, tweak/adjust, then add the next piece. With the Triangulated cuff I really wanted a design that seemed minimal yet dynamic, and I adjusted my model until I got the effect I was satisfied with. The final result was 3D printed in a black plastic nylon material (BSF - Black Strong & Flexible). It's a very lightweight yet strong and flexible material (as the name implies). The ends of the cuff are rounded so it slides on and off easily. Sizing: *Size Extra-Small/Petite interior dimensions: 2 1/8 inches wide x 1 1/2 inches tall [54mmx38mm]. Available from Shapeways here: http://shpws.me/3qW1 *Size Small interior dimensions: 2 1/4 inches wide x 1 3/4 inches tall [57mmx44.5mm]. Available from Shapeways here: http://shpws.me/3qW0 *Size Medium interior dimensions : 2 1/3 inches wide x 2 inches tall [59mmx51mm]. Available from Shapeways here: http://shpws.me/3qW2

This is the Multidodecahedron. A puzzle that has all the parts from the Megaminx, Pyraminx Crystal, Starminx, Master Pentultimate and Pentultimate and requires you to solve them simultaneously. This puzzle was initially suggested by Carl Hoff, who coined the name Multidodecahedron.

About ordering
To purchase a Multidodecahedron DIY kit, you should purchase this model and then must send me an email with your order number so I can give the necessary instructions to Shapeways. This kit comes with free stickers so please also include your mailing address so I can send them to you (note: I am currently not offering super stickers).
This puzzle comes as a kit which you will need to assemble yourself. You will need to provide M3 screws and optional springs and or washers. You can also contact me directly to purchase a fully assembled and stickered copy of this puzzle.

This is the framework for a work-in-progress. A subdivided dodecahedron provides the basis for this complicated truss. There are circular holes on the vertices, edge-middles and face-centers of the original object. The holes are designed to accept snap-in inserts in three sizes, making it easy to add the additional parts and a pedestal to the sculpture.

This is a cubic interpretation of the classic trefoil knot.

These are not links; it is a single, looping (in a cubic sort of way) structure.

There is also a 50mm version available.
And a pendant version, here: Cubic Trefoil Knot Pendant.

This shape works very nicely as a 12 sided die, providing an elegant alternative to the regular dodecahedron.

It's is a hexagonal dipyramid, an isohedron.

Note that this is a blank, so the faces will need to be numbered.  For more information on unique dice shapes, see http://loki3.com/poly/fair-dice.html.

An archimedean polyhedron.

N. 12 of the complete set counting 13 items.

The truncated icosidodecahedron has 62 faces (30 squares,
20 hexagons,
12 decagons), 180 edges and 120 vertices.

The Archimedean solids are bounded by two or more kinds of regular polygons, meeting at each vertex in the same identical way.

They were discovered by Archimedes in a now-lost work. In 1620 Johannes Kepler described them all and gave them the names still in use.

A year has 12 months and a dodecahedron has 12 faces...

Each month spans five weeks and each face of a dodecahedron has five sides...

The Gregorian calendar repeats every 146,097 days and there are exactly 146,097* triangles in this model...

Spooky. Personally I blame Ugo Boncompagni.

This model is one third of the original design and hence the detail has become a little fuzzy. One day I hope to have enough money to print at the intended size. But the calendar will probably be out of date by then. :-(

[ * This is a complete fabrication. There are in fact 113,802 triangles in the model, but who's counting? ]

This unlikely tangle is actually a fair 12 sided die.  This is a much more interesting shape than the traditional regular dodecahedron.

This 12 sided die is a tetragonal pentagonal dodecahedron, an isohedron. Crystallographers know it as the tetartoid. It's a challenging shape to turn into a die since opposite faces aren't even close to being parallel. To make it work, I started from a wireframe of the shape then embedded parallel sides inside it. The result is one of the most unlikely looking dice I've seen.

Note that this is a blank, so the faces will need to be numbered.  For more information on unique dice shapes, see http://loki3.com/poly/fair-dice.html.

This dodecahedron-based shape was made for my father, who loves geometrics. The small pentagons in the center of each open face appear to be floating in anything but bright light. The stainless steel print is particularly nice.
