Half Life 2 meets Portal. Gordon Freeman and Alyx Vance's best friend, DOG, contemplating the beauty of his new toy, a companion cube. What else could you possibly want? Oh, that's right, Half-Life 2 Episode 3 would be nice...

Gabe, are you listening?

This uses the original texture maps from the game, you can even see the Lambda Half Life logo on DOG's back.

It wasn't easy! I had to remap all the textures manually, and fix all the geometry to make it printable and thick enough to support the weight. I also made most large pieces hollow, but you won't notice that at all (except in the reduced price this provided).

a fully articulated mini figure that can twist torso and bend knees. Made to be compatible with most brick brands. Please be gentle when connecting parts together especially the knees. If you order it with a coloured material, you may have to remove some of the polyamide powder that will be stuck inside the knees' joints (you can remove it using a toothpick).

A set of FIVE dice in this item: d4, d6, d8, d12, d20. Each die is realized by a "skeleton" (See Sylook''s shop at http://www.shapeways.com/shops/the_shop_of_small_wonders for the idea behind it), with a wireframe model of the *dual* of the relevant polyhedron surrounding the skeleton. The numerals are affixed to the wireframe, which is free to move around on the skeleton--but not too far. Hence the name "rattling bones." (The d4 is a little different; the numbers are on the ends of the skeleton)

So far, has been canceled in steel (antique bronze glossy. reason: Loose parts can't be kept loose without breaking) and in Alumide (reason: Thin wall,
(Probably will be impossible to clean in detail material. I don't know about glass, but I think these really have to be done in strong&flexible.)

Version 1.6

This is the "Fierier" variant of the Thugmeister. Apart from his smirkish expression, he is the same as his Thugmeister brothers; a little robot standing 2 inches tall. In addition to his default pair of hand blaster weapons, he comes with 2 Driller and 1 Zapper accessories.

By some odd quirk, he can fold up into a rough, disc-like shape...

Version 1.5 has been tested in Strong Flexible and Frosted Ultra Detail. Printing in Strong Flexible is recommended. The latest version has been tweaked to reduce breakage in FUD, but still do take care during assembly.

The rhombic hexecontahedron is a pretty shape; it's used as the symbol for Wolfram Alpha. It's also non-convex, so it can't be used as a die... or can it? Since it's a facetting of the regular dodecahedron, it essentially lands on five vertices which are the corners of one face of the enclosing regular dodecahedron. So with a little creative labelling, it can certainly be used as an ordinary d12.

As usual, order at your own risk until I've put up pictures of the actual print.

OK, got my print of this, and I have to say that as it stands, it's something of a failure. The points are so sharp and fine that the colors actually "bleed" across to other faces a little, here and there. And the numbers are too bold and dark and tend to look like big black blobs. Besides, the points are too pointy for using as a die. There are good uses for full-color sandstone: this isn't one of them. Maybe I can redesign.

The d4 of the "Open" series. Labeling the faces of a d4 doesn''t make as much sense, so the tilted faces now reside under the vertices.

(Compare this with the "Tetrasphere" by friz at http://www.shapeways.com/model/152256/tetrasphere.html which is similar)

The d20 in the "Open" series. Doing a true rotated triangle in these would have left the triangle really small, so I went with more of a hexagon to suggest the right shape.

This shape makes an interesting alternative to the traditional 8 sided die. It's made of two pyramids fused together. It has a convex hull that's a tetragonal trapezohedron, an isohedron. I embedded two pyramids inside each other to make this die. Its convex hull, a tetragonal trapezohedron, doesn't have parallel opposite sides, so this is a nice way to create an elegant 8 sided die. For more information on unique dice shapes, see http://loki3.com/poly/fair-dice.html.

A tetrahedral die inspired to a sci-fi starship of the 60s. The numbers are represented by circular slots on the tips, designed in such a way that the center of mass of the die remains at the tetrahedron center.

Edge dice As unusual and decorative as these dice are their fundamental design is based around heavy use as well as being as fair as possible. Each die has been modeled with the intent of being printed in stainless steel, oriented to minimalize deviation in balance due to the printing process as well as counter board and balanced within the model itself to ensure that the center of the models and centers of gravity or coincident. When looking through the openings in the dice to its interior you will notice several counter boars, these are intended and part of the functional side of their design. Each contact “face” has also been ensured to be the same size, shape and distance from the center of gravity for each die. The overall size and weight has also been taken into account for comfort and usability, most of the dice are on par in size with a standard 12mm D6 with the only current exceptions being the D20 and the D4.
