An espresso cup specially designed with fins, to ensure the successful deployment of your rocket fuel. All systems are go! Paraboloid bowl holds approximately 1.5 fl oz. or 45 mL. (Note that I previously claimed the cup held 60 mL. While my 3D modelling software still reports that as the internal volume, some combination of the printing process and glazing is robbing me of internal volume. Contact me if you'd be interested in a larger, more expensive 60 mL cup.)
After receiving feedback from Shapeways, I've created a slightly revised model for the cup. I'm told that this model will be easier to print and glaze, leading to a more reliable product. The changes are minor -- it's a little wider, a little heavier, and has more rounding on edges that were previously sharp (a 3D rendering shows the differences above).
Update (April 13th, 2013): The cup has had a great run on Shapeways, and I deeply appreciate the attention and positive feedback it has received. The bad news is that I've got to stop offering it for sale here. The good news is that the cup is now available commercially! It's being manufactured by Fred and Friends, sold under the name "Blast Off! Espresso Cup Set". It's already available for purchase online (perpetualkid.com, thinkgeek.com), and I'm sure you'll be able to find it in your favourite housewares store soon.

About Hyphae
Hyphae is a collection of 3D printed artifacts constructed of rhizome-like networks. Inspired by the vein structures that carry fluids through organisms from the leaves of plants to our own circulatory systems, we created a simulation which uses physical growth principles to build sculptural, organic structures. Starting from an initial seed and a surface, we grow a hierarchical network where nodes constantly branch and merge. The densely interconnected structure is at once airy and strong.
Lighting Specifications
The lamp comes with an eco-friendly 3-watt 200 lumen LED light fixture with three bright Cree LED's that will last for 6 years of continuous use. It is UL-listed and works off a 120V or 240V outlet.

The model is very thin, yet sturdy and flexible. Detail level is fantastic, and the natural texture of the 3d printing process gives it a bone-like appearance that works wonders.

Solo e Sola is an espresso cup that holds a single cigarette.
The Solo e Sola cup was inspired out of need, and could be used to build an entire business model... imagine a food truck offering single espresso shots with single cigarettes. Currently illegal, probably unhealthy, yet understandably desirable, Solo e Sola is a serving piece for a food truck, a cafe or a restaurant, or individuals.
A product of Tomorrow Lab’s CoBuilt process [ http://tomorrow-lab.com/cobuilt ], this cup was developed for a low cost using rapid fabrication processes including an inhouse MakerBot and Shapeways.com.
It's in such a state that it cannot stand on it's own, so it really needs some support.
Luckily it has :-)
When you order, you will get the Hangover cup and the matching stand in glazed ceramics.
Printed Ceramics
With the current process, the round bottom on the cup will likely show some minor pits in the glazing from a small tripod it stands on during the baking.
And the bottom of the stand/saucer has rougher structure.
The rest of the glazing is fully covering, so it's safe to drink from.
Also available as a more sober version (standalone)
The cup is designed for a double espresso(60 ml), but can hold a maximum of about 90 ml.

The Hidden Heart Espresso Cup
Perfect for Valentine's Day (or any other day needing a little heart), The Hidden Heart Espresso Cup reveals a perfect heart shape when a double shot of espresso is poured into it. Because of its complex contours, this hidden shape can't be made with traditional molds or normal ceramic fabrication processes. Food-safe in Glazed Ceramics, and 2 make a perfect couple!
More about why complex shapes are difficult in ceramic:
Ceramic is usually either spun or poured into 2 part molds, but there are several limitations to this. With a spun piece (think pottery wheel), you can only easily make symmetrical shapes, and then if you want alter them a little bit from the outside. With a mold, you can make more complicated shapes but to be able to remove it from the mold, you can't have any contours that overhang (the underside, like a cliff, will get caught on the mold and you won't be able to pull it out). This is usually what's called draft.3D Printing is Cool
Anyway with 3D printing those aren't problems, since the form is being built up layer by layer. The issue of draft goes away entirely, and there's much more freedom to focus on design. I like to design for the hand as well as the eye. Kitchen, food, and drink-ware should almost slide into your hand, and give you a closer connection to what you are putting in your body.Of course, you still have to consider wall thickness and minimum feature height and a couple other things, but that's not a bad trade-off for getting any form you can image!
