Jalyrkieon Hierarchy

Shadruech Class Sensor Cruiser

One of the specialist cruisers of the fleet, the Shadruech is immediately distinctive due to the enormous sensor dishes on the port and starboard arrays. The vessel mounts the pinacle of Jalyrkieon sensor technolgy; the largest and most powerful sensor array they have ever built. The two dishes, while typically pointed out to port and starboard, can in fact be extended on telescopic poles, and then can be rotated to face any direction, to further enhance their power and resolution.

The Shadruech also is equipped with an extensive ECM array, which in concert with the sensor and communicator emitters, mkaes it a jamming vessel par excellance.

Cybertanks

The Dispersion configuration typically operates in the scouting role, often supplemented by Radicals. The Dispersion configuration is slower and much more durable then the latter. The Dispersions have better sensors, but are lighter armed. They carry only a single light particle laser turret, whcih serves double duty and anti-armour and anti-infantry/anti-aircraft. Their offensive punch comes mainly from the four fixed missile tubes on its flanks. Missile warheads and loads vary, but when the Dispersion is carrying a typical load of missiles, it carries about four reloads for each tube. Like all Cybertanks, the Dispersion does not "reload" a magazine, but literally grows new missiles to replace expended ones as part of it's physiology; again time varies, but can be as little as a few hours.

The four emitters found at the corner of each hull, are like all Cybertanks, proximity-range tractor beam emitters, allowing the Cybertanks to manipulate objects. Their fine control is merely passable (it might be better were it compounded by Cybertank ineptitude), and their strength, while considerable by human standards, is not in the superhuman range. They might be able to lift a weight such as a typical car, but not throw one. Still, they are capable of tossing around lighter objects (such as squishy hominoids) if they get too close (though their proficiency depends on the individual Cybertank.)

Hawkings Astronautics (Military) HAM-119 Spider Wasp Destroyer

The HAM-119 Spider Wasp Destroyer is an iconic ship of the SSA fleet, being commonly sighted in promotional material and recruitment drives. The Spider Wasp is a solid destroyer, capable of operating well at long or short ranges. With typical SSA high-power engines, the Spider Wasp carries four particle pellet cannons and a series of hyper-ray blisters. A single small torpedo tube in the nose rounds out the anti-ship weaponry. A dozen light-calibur particle pellet guns provide anti-fighter and anti-missile defense. The distinctive "spine" of the ship is formed from the communication array, especially enhanced for recieving telemetry from the quartet of probes in the torpedo bay.

The Spider Wasp one one of the earliest designs for the SSA's current fleet, and is a reliable vessel held in high regard by it's crews.

Extra-Galactic Alien

The first alien warship to be encountered, this vessel was spotted by a group of independant explorers who had tracked a spore frieghter. They encountered some sort of city-like structure that was apparently a supply base for the freightrs. They located a spacial distortion in the system, which turned out to be an extra-galactic portal. They explorers entered the protal briefly, and encountered the cruiser on the other side. They retreated swiftly, as it launched some sort of telepathic bombardment, perhaps a scan or an attempt at communication, which caused considerable distress to the crew.

Due to the nature of the sensor resistance of the hull, little else is know about this vessel except it is extreme manouverable for it's size, and is presumably well-armed.

Curiously, the first vessel encountered was tan coloured, but all alien vessels encountered since (including those of this class) have all been had the distinctive mirror-smooth metal finish. It is suggested but possible the first vessel was coated in some kind of chinous second skin, though without any kind of sensor data, this is, like everything else, pure speculation.

The unusual Vaporiser is less a tank and more a mobile pill box. With a fixed manetic linear accelerator gatling, and very heavy front armour (approaching that of the Eradicator), it is often seen functioning as a latter-day inpromptu fixed-line machine gun. It’s main weapon, however, is the omnidirectional partical laser beam array mounted on the back, often confused for a sensor array. This has considerable range and is equally capable at anti-air or anti-armour roles. Their side armour is considerably less, and their shields are not stronger than the Radical’s.

However, these are not the reasons the Vaporisers are most notorious. They six double-sized sized tractor emitters, four at the front and two at the rear, provided them with enormous strength and manipulative ability. They can lift about 80 tons, and can throw around eight - more than enough to uproot and hurl a tree. There are few vehicles that can traverse woods or other difficult terrain so easily – the Vaporisers simply shove the trees out of their path like a man would brush aside undergrowth. They are sufficiently skilled at this, they can do at nearly full speed. The resulting clear trail allows the following Cybertanks to launch an expected strike from an unexpected direction.

Atrocious Eruption Blistering Castigation Anti-Aircraft Artillery Tank

The Atrocious Eruption variant of the Blistering Castigation hull is primarily a company air-defence vehicle. It is, however, due to the advanced electronics, also used as a command vehicle for the local group commander.

On top of the Blistering Castigation hull’s two forward lazer cannons, it has a huge quad lazer cannon array, which is capable of inflicting devastating damage on armour, infantry and air-craft alike, though it’s sheer size precludes its use as point-defence under a couple of kilometres. The power drain of this enormous device means that the shield array of the Atrocious Eruption is less powerful than its MBT brother.

The vehicle’s secondary turret contains a smaller PD lazer, co-axially mounted on top of a rack of semi-guided missiles. The rack contains a total of 56 missiles. Anti-armour or area effect (anti-infantry) mode typically uses a spread of seven missiles. The missiles can be fired as unguided rockets, though without a sensor lock, they can only be used in area-effect mode on targets on a direct line of sight; indirect area-effect requires a sensor lock, as the unguided missiles do not ballistically fall except at their extreme range.

Hawkings Astronautics (Military) HAM-123 Bulwark Class Escort Cruiser

The HAM-123 Bulwark is a typical Hawkings Astronautics design. Manouvrable and highly durable, the Bulwark can take heavy pounding. The Bulwark's role is point-defense, and thus it carries a wide range of particle pellet guns and light hyper-rays, an amount equivilent to many purely dedicated escort vessels. The Bulwark, though, thank to the accomplished miniaturisation technologu the SSA is renowned for, also carries significant anti-ship armament. This consists of several hyper-ray blisters and astroburster cannons, and pair of torpedo tubes in the lower hulls, which also caary four probes apiece, allowing the Bulwark some reconnaissence ability to boot. The "spine" like many other SSA ships, consists of sensor and communications masts for a variety of purposes, including recieving telemetry from the probes.

Hawkings Astronautics (Military) HAM-124 Marlin Class Heavy Cruiser

Another Hawking Astronautics design, the HAM-124 Marlin gets it's name from the distinctive cluster of sensor arrays that put the designer in mind of the spear-like snout of its namesake. These are to recieve data from the vessel's probes, and also act as a communications booster, raising range by up to 15%. The Marlin, like many heavy cruisers is a straight-forward combat starship. It has the typical high agility of SSA fleet vessels, though it is less shielded and armoured and is slightly smaller than many of it's contemporaries, and relies more on evasion for protection. Weaponry consists of four partical pellet cannons, for enagement at all ranges, two heavy and several supplementary astroburster cannons and numerous hyper-ray blisters. Rounding out its armament are eighteen light hyper-ray turrets for point defence and two small torpedo tubes which house the vessel's probes and eighteen assorted nuclear warheads.

Copernicus Amalgamated (Warship division) CAW-104 Arbalest Light Cruiser

The SSA has few specialised ships, and the Arbalest is no exception. The CAW-104 has enough speed and manouvreability to keep pace with the smaller escort craft, and wields a wide range of weapons, enabling it to fill one of several roles. In addition to small array of various hyper-rays and astrobusters, the Arbalest has two torpedo tubes, mounted in the fore of the "blimp" hull sections. In addition to twenty torpedoes (either standard nuclear or atomic shrapnel warheads), the Arbalest also carries five probes for long distance scouting. The Arbalest's main firepower comes from the spinal-mount missile launcher, whose magazine comprises much of the hull. The missile launcher allows the Arbalest further versitility, as it can fulfill the point-defense role, standard missile support or even close-range attack, all depending on the warhead loadout.

The Arbalest's biggest drawback is that it is no more heavily shielded than the smaller vessels of the SSA fleet, giving it only average defence for a vessel of it's size. This is somewhat compensated by it's much higher evasive capability, however.

Mainwaring-Moore Engineering MM-193 Chariot Frigate

The solid and reliable MM-193 Chariot is found escorting all manner of SSA vessels, often working in a duo with a WDN-109 Riposte.  With the high manouverability and acceleration that is the SSA trademark, it handles it's job well. The Chariot's forward dome houses the powerful Dewhurst D504 Electronics Warfare suite, enabling the Chariot to provide ECM coverage to it's squadron. As it's primary role is escort, the Chariot carries twelve light hyper-ray cannons, mounted in individual turrets, rather than the more typical blister. The Chariot is not completely without teeth, however, as it carries a particle pellet cannon on each wing. This armament allows the Chariot to fight at any range. This has the disadvantage of a limited fire-arc, but one which can be equally conpensated for given the Chariots' manouverability, especially at the more critical shorter ranges.

Hawkings Astronautics (Military) HAM-127 Charybis Battlecruiser

The HAM-127 Charybdis is a platform for the huge Warp Dynamics SK-5 "Starkiller" Warp Accelerator. The Charybdis carries two of these monstrously destructive weapons. Each is capable of creating a localised warp zone, utilising the same technology as warp drive. This tends to have the same effect on matter as the warp-drive, displacing it to another location. However, instead of allowing a ship to teleport between two places, the warp accelerators (and smaller astro accelerators) scatter the particles over a wide area.

The effect is far greater than a random dispersion; the accelerators are actually designed to enhance the scattering effect, totally opposite to a regular warp-drive. In fact, the two technolgies are almost identical in function, but in oppiste polarity. As warp-drives have been known to spectacularly fail when the confinement filed polarity is reversed, it is theoretically conceivable a warp or astro accelerator could be jury-rigged to a crude warp-drive. Such a undertaking has never been attempted in practise, since a failure would be monstrously disaterous to the vessel.

In addition to the warp accelerators, the Charybdis carries a significant number of astro-bursters, hyper-rays and particle pellet turrets, rounding out it's considerable firepower.
