Fantastic! - I THOUGHT.... until I tried adding one to my Wordpress.com site. It took me a long time to find this out so if any of YOU have a WP.COM site as opposed to a WP.ORG site you MUST read this:

Quite simply, plugins are not available for the former, only the latter. Here is the official word from their FAQ's:

'"Plugins are tools used to extend the functionality of the WordPress platform. However, they are only applicable to privately-hosted blogs and web sites using the WordPress.org software. Plugins are not permitted on WordPress.com for various security reasons."

Not happy :-(

Hey Glenn,

yeah, that's a limitation. Not much we can do about the policies on specific sites though...

No, Bart, not a complaint directed at Shapeways... although if this had been known at the time I read it I would have saved a LOT of time...

Gotcha. I've added a note to the article.

I've had it installed for a while now, and it shows up on my website, but the widget doesn't update when I bring new products to the top of my store, and it uses some old product images even after I updated them (some months ago). I tried refreshing, uninstalling and reinstalling the widget, even created a new store section called Featured and redirected the widget to show that, I can't get it to update.

Homepage has a link to see the site I'm talking about.

Hi Harry,

yes, I'm sorry but the current widget is no longer maintained - we're preparing a better version at this moment. I'll add a warning to this post.
