Can You Design a 3D Printed Rocket Engine to Send Nano-Satellites Into Space?
DIYROCKETS and Sunglass.io have announced a partnership to launch the world’s first open source competition to create 3D printed rocket engines through collaborative design.
The competition challenges makers, designers and space entrepreneurs to collaborate to create open source 3D printed rocket engine to serve the growing market for small payload delivery into low earth orbit. The concept is for teams to work together to design and 3D model a working rocket engine in the software of their choice, using Sunglass.io as a collaboration tool to edit and update the 3D model.
The first prize is $5000 cold hard cash and a student prize of $2500 along with 3D printing courtesy of Shapeways.

DIYROCKETS is a global space company incorporated in 2012 to help humanity establish a civilization in space by lowering the cost of space exploration as much as possible by generating extremely low cost knowledge and space technology through opensourcing and crowdsourcing. A truly global endeavour, the project was founded by American Darlene Damm and Argentinian Diego Favarolo.
Sunglass is a cloud-based environment that enables global teams to design together as they build products of the future. Democratizing 3D design, Sunglass aims to be the fastest way for any design team to bring their product ideas to the world. Founded in May 2011, Sunglass is based out of San Francisco and New Delhi.

This would be an exceptional project for a Shapeway open source design competition. Food shortages is already a critical problem world wide and experts predict far worse conditions for the future.
I would be honoured to work with you on this. I have yet to master 3D modeling, but do have a lifetime experience in art and design, including sculpting.
