If indeed he finally release a kit for around $1k (see his tweets) this will be a game changer..

Or.. he will bought by a big manufacturer which will leave us with a.. RepRap.. again..

My bet is on the latter.. :/

It's amazing what he accomplished with his DIY printer. But I wouldn't buy one. Why? Because I assume that Shapeways will always buy new printers in the future which can print in better resolution and materials all the time. I bet this DIY printer can be updated but it would never reach the same quality as Shapeways offers.

Anyone who would settle for "less" and who needs to mass-produce tons of models will be loving this DIY printer. :-)
