We have been looking for ways to help the Shapeways community get their designs out into the wild and have got a few exciting projects on the boil. One that we need you to help us test is the Shapeways Widget that allows you to embed your Shapeways shop into other sites using a HTML snippet.
This widget is still in the testing stage and we would really like to get your feedback on how it works, if you run into any problems and if you would like to see any more details or options. Also feel free to send us links of where you use the widget so we can get an idea of the context in which you use the widget.
To Widgetize your shop (in BETA) you will need to use the following HTML
<iframe frameborder=”0″ style=’
border:1px solid #c0c0c0;
height:182px;
width:628px;’
src=”https://www.shapeways.com/widget/include.php?shop=YOURSHOPNAME“>
</iframe>
If you have trouble with the code you can also enter this url into your web browser:
https://www.shapeways.com/widget/include.php?shop=YOURSHOPNAME
and then view the source code (cmd-U in firefox, shift-cmd-U in safari, shift-cmd-V in Camino) and copy it wherever you would like to place it.
We are also looking into making it easier for you to share your favorites and shop sections with widgets, let us know if there is anything else you would like us to ‘widgetize’?
awesome!
being able to select which items would show up in the widget, instead of just ALL of them together would be very useful.
Thanks Todd,
We do have an option to share your favorites which could help with that but it is not quite stable.
Keep an eye on this blog post and we may have a fix in the next couple of days.
A shop sections option is also in planning. this would be perfect to select which items you would like to show.
cheers
This is great, and good to read a shop section option is in the planning too… all good stuff.
Great addition shapeways!
I resized it a bit- when i inserted it in my site the vertical dim of 182 px was too small, it created a vertical scroll bar, so i increased this to 200 px to get it to full size. However, horizontally my site is set up w/ 500 px wide columns so I had to resize the width to match this. So now you have a horizontal scroll to see everything, then you click next to see even more – not the ideal setup.
So i’d like to be able to resize the widget w/o the scroll bars, just show less models on the 1st page, is that possible? click my homepage to see the widget on my site.

also, the page numbers don’t make sense in the widget form, sense you’re scrolling thru one at a time you can’t tell any separation from page 1 to 2
Hey Jeff,
thanks, they make sense if you use the outside arrows, and also work when you use the vertical version of the widget (oops),
The soon to be released vertical version 🙂
ah, a vertical widget would find its fit much nicer on my site. thanks for the slip.
I just dropped it into my website, and it looks pretty good!!!
I think it would be cool to change the number of models displayed (and which ones) vertically and horizontally. And maybe some tabs that go through the shop sections or something like that.
Check it out here:

Jake, great idea to use tabs for sections! Lets see if we can hack that in…
very rough trial ….

I just Widgetized my Shapeways favorites, but must say.. I prefer a black Widget @ http://www.maartjevijn.com/pages/grafisch/006.php
Hi, try adding &style=dark to your code 😉
I like it, but I would prefer the option of being able to set a number of rows to be shown. Right now, there’s a pretty big void in my shop page: http://tomvanderzanden.nl/shop.php It would be much nicer if I could set it to display four or so rows so that it would fill the entire page.
Here is my widget (at the bottom):
eyephoriadesign DOT com SLASH buy_art DOT html
Stupid spam filter keeps blocking my post.
I chose the dark option. 😛
Looks good, but, ahem, it is below the Etsy widget…. 🙂
