Currently it is possible to have us dye White, Strong & Flexible for you in 3 different colors. We want to continue to innovate so we will be replacing those three colors: Blue Jeans, Terracotta & Limestone with three new ones. This should happen in a month or so. So, you have a month if you would like to order something in those colors. We would like to ask you guys however which colors you would like to try. So what colors do you want as Shapeways next 3? Please take 30 seconds to pick your favorite three colors. The colors you can choose from are shown below. Arnoud is responsible for selecting the pink by the by.
priority order:
green
orange
red
gray
blue
pink
gray is not a priority in my mind, since you guys have the Alumide. Pink is too girly for general use, and could simply be substituted with red in most cases. Orange has always been an awkward color to me, and is thus nixed. This leaves:
Red,
green,
blue
These colors are boring, why can they have cool names like the old ones? :-P.
We will give them cool names later!
1: Green
2: Red
3: Blue Jeans 😉
I’m not very lucky that you want to change the old ones, since some customers are happy with the existing colours (i.e. limestone).
If I can choose colours I would prefer none of the predefined ones but instead:
sand
olive
grey
Woody64
1. green
2. orange
3. red
please 🙂
pink might be also quite interesting
Please, please, do not replace all the old colours, but add one or two. I’ll spend ages getting my photography right again.
So my favorite line up would be:
– add a pinkish/magenta red.
– keep blue jeans
– keep limestone
If we have to loose a color, make it terracotta.
Pink Pink!
😉
If you replace, then…
1. Red
2. Blue
3. Green
If you add…
1. Red
2. Pink
3. Green
Pink – it’s my new obsession
Pink – it’s not even a question,
Pink – on the lips of your lover
(oh)
‘Cause Pink is the love you discover
Pink – it was love at first sight (yeah)
Pink – when I turn out the light
Pink – it’s like red but not quite 😉
Turquoise is the Pantone color of the year.
Purple also seems to be emerging.
If possible, a nice deep chocolate brown would also be a good basic.
Michael,
If you ever meet Peter Paul, our Product Manger, I think the two of you would get along very well. He suggested the purple and the brown but that didn’t make it to the final selection!
good to hear!
too bad they didnt make it…they definitely have backup in the world of color trend!
i love the idea. was never really into the current colours. and i do like the bright look of
*pink, blue and green* or maybe *red, blue and green* if the pink is too girly for some people.
but seeing that a lot of the work on here is jewelry and decorative objects it might be fitting. i would def place a batch order!! thanks for the great work!
blue
pink
green
Green, Red, Terracotta
I don’t quite understand why, but the Terracotta frog I have seems to have a better transluscency/ dynamic range of colour/ life to it than any of the other materials I have seen so far.
Red,
green,
blue
Green
Blue – I like the current blue
Pink
Ever thought to offer a bigger color palette where the buyer can choose of. My buyers would like to see a lot of other colors (brown, silver, grey, olive, sand, red, … )
If those are the choices,i would rather you not change the colors at all. i like the colors that you have. If anything, I would change the black since it’s not a true black. I think ALL your new color choices are all too saturated and intense. the colors you have now are more complex and sophisticated. Maybe it’s just the way the samples look, but I can’t even pick three that i like. I like the idea of brown or turquoise, even purple might be good, but none of those seems to have made the list.
I agree with Kristopher about the gray. Most items people would want in grey probably will get in in alumide. I also have always associated the color orange with fruit and ugly 90’s pants.
Though female, I really don’t care for the color pink very much, but from a marketing standpoint there are thousands upon thousands of females who will buy things they don’t need just because they’re in pink, so unfortunately that’s in my top three.
From most favored to least:
blue
green
pink
red
orange
gray
I see the powder blue and the orange and immediately think “Gulf Oil” which would be awesome for model parts. I’m kind of partial to the green too, so those are my choices
orange
blue
green
Only bright primaries? That’s unfortunate. The old colors were tasteful. These are gaudy and garish. Bad idea! What were you thinking?
NONE OF THE ABOVE!
A purple would be nice. Purple is my favorite color. I don’t see why you just can’t stock more multiple colors and just use them per demand. To keep the menu less cluttered, people could choose “colored” in addition to white or black WSF, then choose their color during checkout.
*Green* for the Ampelmann GO traffic light: http://www.shapeways.com/model/119245/ampelmann_go.html
*Red* for the Ampelmann STOP
*Orange* for the upcoming soccer world cup “Hup Holland” shapes

Please consider the material restriction menu when you do a color change.
Currently the adding of “gold” results in availability of “gold” for all items.
