If they're just going to show it on TV why bother creating a low-res object? Just render the model and show that.

The physical model was probably just used as an attention grabber - at least to me it does
not even appear more lifelike than the (so obviously approximate) police sketch. Add to that the assumption that both must be based on the same limited data..

For my opinion I think this 3D printed models are a great help especially to the police in order for them to easily catch criminals.
