After lots of practice making digital Doyle Spirals, the one below is fdecomite's first real world version!

unellenu makes impressive moves with Shapeways' Strong & Flexible materials: check out her Linear Lotus Ring
Ok, it may not have the finest resolution (at 1x1x1 meter voxels) but this is a very impressive experiment that is the first 3D printer available for download... Yeah
Great work Shrogg2, check out the video showing the original concept and how it runs.. with virtual sheep, not sure if this is a New Zealand thing or a hat tip to Philip K Dick? Either way, very cool.
Found via 3D Printing is the Future.

Many photographers lose there lenscap, especially me.
So it was time to solve this problem.
With this cap holder you just click your lenscap in and are ready to go.
This holder is suitable for every 58mm lenscap
Perfect.
Each year Cut&Paste hold the Digital Design Tournament, a competitive showcase held throughout the world where designers go head to head live on stage to find the global champions of design in 2D, motion graphics and 3D modeling. For the 2010-11 championships just passed, we were super excited to be involved in the final event held in New York City, where designers from New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, London, Berlin, Mexico City, Sao Paulo, Bangkok, Seoul, and Tokyo went head to head and Eugenio Garcia Villarreal was crowned Global 3D Champion. Part of his prize, along with the glory of knowing he is the best of the best, Eugenio is now the first 'virtual' Designer in Residence at Shapeways.

With the assigned theme of Free Speech, in twenty minutes, working live on stage with no prepared assets, Eugenio designed his packaged Tongue to take out the championship.
We need some local knowledge though to help us find the perfect place to meet nearby on Saturday the 30th of July at around 7pm. Let us know where we should meet and we look forwards to seeing you there.

Ok, the first Bitcoin Ring hits Shapeways... Close, and still very cool.
Bitcoin is a peer-to-peer currency. Peer-to-peer means that no central authority issues new money or tracks transactions. These tasks are managed collectively by the network.
If anyone is using Bitcoin I would love to hear your thoughts, and maybe in the future you can pay Goebat for his ring using Bitcoin?
We are EXTREMELY happy to let you know that for Shapeways orders in the USA, we will now be shipping your 3D printed products direct from New York.

Previously all of your packages of 3D printed goodness were distributed via our office in the Netherlands but now with US based distribution this will mean an end to nasty import duties and UPS surcharges for all US orders.
Along with distribution we are also increasing our local production in the USA which result in you getting your items delivered to your door faster than ever before, reducing transportation time, cost and carbon.... We will be sharing more information on this soon.
For those of you outside of the USA you will continue to get the same great service at the same great price and items will begin to ship faster due to the shared load between our distributed production facilities.
This is our (slightly belated) 4th of July gift to our US community members.
This morning we shared with you some of the measures we're taking to step up our supply chain for our community. We're integrating all these improvements, but what about the state of our materials and our lead times right now? Here's a quick rundown:
Silver - We've recently increased both printing capacity and casting capacity for Silver. At the moment, silver is running 2-4 weeks behind, and we expect to be all caught up by the end of this week.
Frosted Detail & Frosted Ultra Detail - A new printer for FD/FUD has been added. We're presently 1-2 weeks behind on FD/FUD and expect to be caught up in 2-2.5 weeks. Part of the reason for this is the extra time needed to check and handle all Frosted Detail models.
White & Colored Strong Flexible - There are currently no delays in Strong Flexible.
Polished White Strong Flexible - Polished SLS is currently 1 - 2 weeks behind, and all issues will be resolved by the end of this week.
Alumide - There are currently no delays in Alumide.
White, Black & Transparent Detail - These materials are currently 1 - 2 weeks behind, but all issues will be resolved by the end of this week.
Ceramics - We've added a new, much bigger kiln (6x the capacity!) and have a new printer on the way. [Updated] Ceramics is currently 4 weeks behind, and will be back on track by the end of July.
Stainless Steel & Glass - There are no delays with Steel or Glass
Full Color Sandstone - There are no delays with Full Color Sandstone
We hope this info helps clear up some of your questions. This is new ground for all of us, so we're glad to be able to improve with your help. Thanks for your patience and your input! Any further questions? Just ask.
As some of you are well aware Shapeways is currently growing very fast. Along with our continuous growth in numbers of Shapeways users, we are also seeing a massive increase in the number of orders for our latest materials Glazed Ceramics, Silver, Frosted and Frosted Ultra Detail. To maintain this growth we have invested in more machines to give us more capacity to get your orders through as fast as possible.
Over the past six weeks we have installed a large kiln to handle the firing of ceramics and increasing our capacity by a factor of six. We have also installed a new wax printer into the silver production facility to handle all of the jewelry we are fabricating for you and also added another machine to produce the frosted and frosted ultra detail models for your miniatures, scale model railways, desktop gaming and other high resolution 3D printed items.
In our Eindhoven facility we have installed an additional EOS P100 to keep ahead of all of the orders of White Strong & Flexible whilst at the same time we are continually fine tuning our logistics facility to ensure your orders are processed as quickly as possible.
All of this within the last six weeks!
Many of the processes, though digitally fabricated, still require man hours in the checking and preparation of the file, the nesting of the parts, cleaning and sorting the 3D printed items, packaging and distribution.
We understand that many of you have expressed disappointment with the change to the pricing scheme for FUD and the introduction of the start up cost to cover the man hours associated with these processes. We have reduced the cost per cubic centimeter by 17% for Frosted Detail and 21% for Frosted Ultra Detail to counter the start up cost because it is the very small models that are the hardest for us to sort, clean and pack without breakages. With this pricing model it better reflects the actual cost of production with large items being much easier to process than small ones.
We will continue to work hard on our software development and logistics to ensure 3D printing with Shapeways is as inexpensive as possible. As soon as we can lower the cost of any materials we will pass those savings on to you the Shapeways community.
Thanks you once again for all your input, we appreciate you ideas, creativity and passion.

I met Andrew Simpson of Vert Design as part of the Rise of the Citizen Engineer panel at Vivid in Sydney and Andrew has been generous enough to answer a few questions about his design practice, 3D printing and DIY boats...
Q. Tell us a little bit about yourself, your background, design practice and why you were invited to be part of the Rise of the Citizen Engineer panel at Vivid in Sydney?I am an industrial designer and head of Vert Design. My design practice is based around rich user interactions and a "hands on tools" design processes.
