Wednesday, July 21. 2010New Finshings: Gold Plated and Antique BronzeAs of today we have introduced 3 new finishes for our Stainless Steel material. To complete our gold range finishes we have added Gold Plated Glossy to our already available Gold Plated Matt ... and based on popular demand we have added Antique Bronze Glossy and Antique Bronze Matt

So to put it simple we now have Gold Plated Stainless Steel in 2 different versions. Matt and Glossy. The main difference between the two is that the glossy version is polished one more time after plating. This give your product an extra glossy finish.
The same goes for Antique Bronze, this is also available in two versions.... Matt and Glossy. The coloring is done with a patination process. After this process the Glossy version again will get one more polishing round to give it this very nice Glossy finish.
You can find more detailed information, including the pricing, for these materials on the material pages. We hope you like these new finishes and that it lives up to your expectations.... These additional finishes are introduced as a test to end August 2010 to gauge interest, after which we will review to decide if we want to make them permanent materials. Nice work. Two remarks:
- Be careful not to offer too many options, especially if the difference may not be clear to our end consumers. So perhaps we should we make the choice for them, if one of two options is nicer. - Perhaps a good preview of the materials could sort out this problem and make the material choice easier. For instance, when a material is selected, show a ball or some other neutral shape in the selected material. A bit like renderers give a material preview. - Slightly contrary to my first remark  , and not sure how this would be done, but I think a 'black metal' finish would be cool as well.

 We are working on a way to better show the material properties (for end consumers) and allow for more control for you as a shop/model owner. So good points and I hope we can make the first step to enable this quite soon.

Anyway your plan sounds good. Good preview for the end consumer, and good control for the shop owner, then you could actually have quite a few material options I suppose. And in fact your material options are amazing by now...
When Stainless was still in beta I got a model in antique bronze and loved it. I've been waiting for this material option to show up - it looks great on certain models.

Hey! That's our bracelet we prototyped along time ago and never fixed! Looks great in glossy gold! I should probably fix the sizing on that piece and finish the design so we can sell it.
