The contest for the next month will be our moving parts contest. It will start today and run until the last day of March. To enter into the contest upload a model and add movingpart as a tag. Community votes will decide the winner. The winner will recieve $300 in 3d Printing from us. We have a blog post here that shows you some moving parts that have already been made with 3D printing. We also have a mini-tutorial here that shows you how to make some basic moving parts.
We would suggest that you guys design for White, Strong & Flexible since it enables you to have wall thicknesses of 2mm(or less 1mm but only make a small portion of your model this thickness), since the support material for it is a powder it also allows for better clearances and thinner parts. Another reason to use WSF is that it is flexible so you could do things with that also. Good luck!
Is designing the item in SWF required, or just recommended? I have had difficulty with SWF when designing movable parts in the past, where moving pieces are .5mm apart. I would usually choose White Detail, but if the contest requires us to use SWF, then I will design accordingly.

It is not required we just thought it would be easier, you can use any material you would like.

Every contest has been a joke. The dates change. People that use the correct tag are not included. “Community votes” are not counted.

This website knows their time is limited to make money. There are more and more similar services and soon people will be doing this on their own desktops. _Do your homework, don’t fall for “SCAMWAYS.”_*
This poor boy … can you imagine how negative his life must be to make a post like this? He doesn’t see how useful Shapeways is. He can’t get beyond his past misplaced frustrations to realize that Shapeways opens a lot of doors for people. I haven’t won a contest yet, but I still keep buying. Shapeways will be here in a year, because the truth of the matter is, people like me will still be buying.
