It could be that you've misspelled the address of the page that you are looking for, or that the link you followed to get here is broken.

If this 404 experience was our doing, we accept full responsibility and can only hope that the wily charms of our homepage can somehow assuage your pain.

But..that makes me sad

In case of a misspelling we urge you to forget and forgive. It is best not to dwell on life's little errors and mistakes. These kinds of things happen to all of us. What is important is that you soldier on despite the set-backs and learn along the way. Do not let little things anger, depress you or cause stress. Do not thump your desk loudly or curse. Simply take a moment, digest the information you have been given and try to learn, so that in the end you are wiser for it. Life is not about destinations or goals. It is not about basking in achievement, compliments or admiration. It is about a better you. It is about the journey along the way making you stronger, happier and more capable. Take this occurrence of hitting a 404 page, you could dwell on it for days and let it sink you into a morass of self-doubt and darkness. Or you could take an online spelling class and move on. Or better yet just skip the class and go straight to move on. There's a world out there waiting for you to explore and understand!

Existential dilemma?

Even this 404 page could lead to understanding and insight. The 404 error itself poses an existential dilemma. You've gone to a page, but it is not there. The page you are on right now does not exist. This page is a lie. You told our server that you wanted to go somewhere and we could not find this place but you are there anyway. Look at your address bar, you can type anything in there and we will take you there. You could type in

http://www.shapeways.com/flyingpinkelephantsdoingballetwhileinnebriated

and we would still find something for you and that something is this text, these photographs and these links. Unless you type in things that make sense to us, such as

http://www.shapeways.com/gallery

we will always show you this page.

This page is the sum total of all your possibilities, the answer to almost everything. Yet, no matter what you type in you will come back to here, to 404. And you will be looking at the same links, text and photos. However even though think you are looking at them over and over again, you really aren't. Because even though you think you are looking at this page, it does not exist.
